Dental Visit Tips & What to Expect

To ensure a smooth visit to our clinic, we've put together some helpful tips to assist you in preparing for your appointment. Additionally, to eliminate any uncertainties surrounding your child's dental visit, we've outlined what both you and your child can expect during their visit.

Before You Arrive

If you're a new patient, please remember to complete the new patient paperwork we'll provide to you before your appointment and set up your account. This will streamline your check-in process at our office and help you save valuable time.

Front Desk Check-In

When you arrive at our office, check in with the staff at the front desk. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment in order to complete your paperwork, if you haven’t already done so.

Meet with a Dental Assistant

Once you’re called back, you’ll meet with one of our amazing dental assistants. We’ll go over your child’s dental and medical history and discuss any concerns you have that day. Your child’s comfort is our top priority so we encourage you to ask as many questions as you like.

X-Rays & 3D Scans

It’s time for x-rays! After meeting with a dental assistant or hygienist, we’ll take some x-rays and/or 3D scans of your child’s face and mouth. The type of scans your child receives depends on their needs. Rest assured, the equipment we use emits minimal radiation and is entirely safe for your child. These scans are essential for us to gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's oral health.

Comprehensive Exam

During your first visit with us, your child will receive a comprehensive exam. This involves the doctor checking their teeth, bone, and gums to make sure we don’t miss anything. Your child may or may not receive a cleaning on their first visit, depending on their needs. Once we see the big picture, we’ll discuss a treatment plan that could involve a cleaning on their next visit.

Treatment Plan

Finally, the dentist will develop and discuss a specialized treatment plan for your child based on the findings of the comprehensive exam. While we will provide recommendations for the treatments we believe are most suitable, we wholeheartedly welcome your questions and want you to know you have the final say in what happens going forward in your child’s dental care journey.

New Patient Forms

Once you schedule your appointment, we will provide you with your new patient paperwork to complete and bring to your first appoinment.

Insurance Options

Our office is committed to helping you maximize your insurance benefits.

Because insurance policies vary, we can only estimate your coverage in good faith but cannot guarantee coverage due to the complexities of insurance contracts. Your estimated patient portion must be paid as per the contract agreement.

As a service to our patients, we will bill insurance companies for services. If you have any questions, our courteous staff is always available to answer them. If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Insurance policies vary, so we will review your insurance to determine the appropriate course of action.
